PRESS RELEASES OF ROSWELL FINE ARTS ALLIANCE PROGRAMS

NEWS RELEASE: RFAA “GENESIS XIV ART SHOW
November 10, 2008

The “Genesis XIV Show”, a juried show of fine art created by Roswell area artists, opened Monday evening with a reception at Once & Again Books, 1580 Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell. The exhibit will be on display through Friday afternoon, January 30, 2009. This special show is co-sponsored by the book store and the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance, whose members have submitted artwork to be judged by art expert Na Na Huang.

“We are proud to provide the space for this unique art show”, said Patricia Sims, Owner of Once & Again.

Mrs. Penny Van der Putten, show chairman who is a valued member of RFAA and local prize winning artist stated “The Genesis Show is a learning experience for people like me and gives both professional and amateur artists who are members of the Alliance an opportunity to display their work for the public to enjoy.” The best work from among numerous works submitted by the 130 talented members of the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance are displayed in the store. Visitors are able to review the written comments of the expert judge on each painting selected for the show. Van der Putten continued, “Once & Again Books’ participation reflects their community service commitment by creating an opportunity for local artists and people who live in our community to share an appreciation for the fine arts.”

Don Cramer, President of the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance, remarked “We are so proud to be able to present 65 works to display.” Mr. Cramer remarked “We were pleased to secure the expertise of Ms. Na Na Huang as juror for this prestigious annual event. Ms. Huang is a graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Art and Design, is currently a teacher and art coordinator for the Chinese Center for the Arts in Chamblee and has an art teaching background of 18 years. She spent 6 years as an art illustrator and designer for a yearbook company and has juried numerous art shows.”

Mickie Maddux, Co-Chairman awarded prizes to Jill Bennett, Best Of Show for “Mentor” Dr. Beaumont Hagebak, First Place for “Mother Teresa”
Carole Poole, Second Place for “Proud Profusion” and Carol Clark, Third Place for “Savage River Hike”

Honorable Mention Ribbons were awarded to: Doloros Mednick for “Abstract 721” Maureen Engle for “Merry 1923” Robert A. Nelson for “Music-in-the-Park” And Beverly Fox for “Red Poppies”

Alliance members voted in a three way tie to select the winners of the “Members Choice” awards: Frank Griffith for The Time Machine; Nancy Fairchild for Siesta and Jill Bennett for Reveal Inner Beauty. Store employees, customers and visitors voted in a two-way tie as winners of the “Peoples Choice” award: Bev Fox for Red Poppies and Lorraine Kimsey for After the Rain. Artists from Roswell and from the surrounding area are invited to consider membership in the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance. For further information on membership, contact the RFAA, P.O.
